She is not very patient, especially when it comes to food and she does not listen to "commands" at all! She tries to bite the dog everytime she gets too close and she can be VERY noisy at times BUT she is still my Peepers, I love her and she is the best duck in the world :-)Thursday, May 21, 2009

Peeps' 1st Birthday!!!!
My little girl turned 1 year old yesterday and to celebrate, I made her this "cake." It is made of her dry duck food soaked in water to form the cake, the "frosting" is made from Cheerios soaked in water and then decorated with peas, corn and tomatoes...HER FAVORITE! She did exactly what I thought she would when we gave it to her...she picked off all the tomatoes first then went for the peas and corn and then rummaged thru the rest of the cake looking for more tomatoes :-)We took a video of the event and I will post that later.

Take me out to the ball game...
Last night while we were at a Titans baseball game this girl in our section brought in her tiny little rat of a dog and it made me think about Peeps and how she has never been to a game. One of her feathers has been to Pepperdine, Davis and a few home games though! Our friend Dean now keeps one of Peeps' feathers in his hat for good luck and our record with the feather is 9-1 :-)
So any way back to Peeps coming to a game. I know she would not sit on my lap for a whole game but maybe if I brought her in the car and went out and got her for the last couple innings that might be cool. Of course she will want to put her 2 cents in on everything and I am sure she will yell right along with Nic when she tells our 3rd base coach not to give a certain person the steal sign!!!! I guess I could put her in the stroller and no one would be the wiser except for the fact that this "baby" quacks. We have one more mid-week game this season so maybe I will give it a shot then!
4 days until Peeps' 1st birthday!!!!!!!

All growed up :)
Oh my little girl is all grown up and gonna be 1 year old in a week! Man time flies! On Friday after work while I let her swim, 2 Mallard drakes flew over our yard. Peeps saw them and quacked real loud and they answered her and all I could think to do was tell her, "no way...nope...no boy ducks for you! One Peeps is enough around here!"

Beauty Salon...
HAPPY MAY EVERYBODY!!!!
When Peeps was a baby she used to love to fall asleep on people's laps...of course she was much smaller then and fit better on a lap! Yesterday I got home and went out back for my Peeps Time and let her swim for a half hour or so. Usually when she is done swimming I kiss her little head and put her back into her ducky duplex to dry off...but this time I decided to do something different. I grabbed her and a towel and put her on my lap to dry off. Now if you have never seen a duck "dry off" then allow me to explain. A duck will not just sit there in the sun and just dry off...NO! They take an active part in drying off to make sure their feathers stay the way they should. Feathers to a duck are VERY important. If you could get a good look at a duck's bill they have little "teeth" that act like a comb and the duck uses these to comb the water out of its feathers. So the duck combs through the feathers and the water collects in the bill and the duck will shake its head and the water flies out...pretty simple process. Now if the duck is doing all this while sitting on your lap then you are in the splash zone and most of the time that Peeps was drying off yesterday I kept my sunglasses on for eye protection :) Another thing that Peeps likes to do while drying off is every so often she will get up on her tip-toes and flap her wings which usually ends up in me getting "bitch-slapped" in the face by a duck wing. But I don't mind...I love my Peeps! Isn't she beautiful?!?!
