Peepers is back home...

Peepers' ashes arrived on Friday and she is safe and sound on the mantle at home with us where she belongs. I feel so much better now that she is home :) I love my baby girl and miss her so much.

Sad news...

It is with a VERY heavy heart that I write this...around 10pm last night (Sat.) my beloved Peepers passed away. As Nic was leaving for the store she noticed that Peeps had not eaten her dinner so I went out to check on her. She seemed out of sorts so I watched her for a little bit and when she laid down and could not get back up I knew it was time to go to the vet. We got to the emergency vet a little before 8 and they checked her in and told us they would take x-rays and stuff and give us a call back. Me and the doctor were both pretty sure she was egg-bound again which is familiar territory. So we went on home and waited, then a little after 10 we got the call that she had passed. Apparently she had some sort or violent tremor or seizure and then went limp and they did all they could to try to revive her but sadly could not. I have cried and cried and I am sure I am not done crying yet but I take comfort in knowing that my angel that already had wings but could not fly, now has a halo and is flying to her little heart's content. She went from being a little ball of yellow fluff that someone did not want to being a beautiful duck full of personality that along the way touched so many people's hearts and she is already missed very much.

Back outside...

The Peepster is back outside and loving it but I think she really liked being in her playpen in the house for those few days. Everyday when I got home I would turn Animal Planet on for her and I am sure that her and Kailani (parakeet) reminisced all day about old times at the Gardena house and how they would watch I Love Lucy in my room.

Hmmm...training a duck?

A couple weeks ago we went to PetSmart and since Terra was in trouble for a digging episode earlier in the day we took Peeps with us instead. When we got there we went to find Michele who was Terra's trainer and she had never met Peeps before so we talked to her for a long while about things and she let Peeps go in the dog training area and wander around to her little heart's content. Michele had mentioned that it would be fun to try to clicker-train a duck and I kind of brushed it off....yeah right, train Peeps? What a joke. Now that I have processed that info for a bit I am thinking that would be a great challenge. More info to come if I deide to try it :-)

Like water off a...

OK so yeah Peeps is a duck and ducks love water but Peeps loves water a little too much and right now there is a little too much water falling around here so Peeps is indoors. It has been raining buckets here this week and everyday I come home to find Peeps sitting in her duckuzzi and she is just soaking wet, so I said ENOUGH! So today being the worst of the storms, I set Peeps up inside in her playpen so she does not get water logged for one day at least :)

This past weekend while it was still sunny we did get a chance to move Peeps cage around and postion most of it under the patio cover and install new carpet which she thoroughly inspected. I took this picture while we had her out giving both kids treats. They did pretty good together...only one minor scuffle but no one was hurt.

Bad blogger...

Ok so I have not been the best blogger I can be but I am going to try to be better about writing in here. So let me catch you up on a few things. My grandma passed away on December 5th which was the day I was supposed to bring Peepers up to visit her :( My grandma loved this duck but hey what is not to love about Peeps? And I know Peeps loved grandma :) Here is a picture of Peeps at about 7 weeks old on grandma's lap. We all miss you grandma!

With all the rain we had last week Peeps cage got very dirty because I was not out hosing it out every other day...so Tuesday night I went out there and gave it a good scrubbing and washing and took a few videos of Peeps checking out the good job I did and giving me her approval by hopping in her duckuzzi and taking a good bath and splashing around:

Peeps is such a good duck...everyone should have a Peeps :-)

It is that time again...

...time for the xmas card photo shoot. Yep tonight Peeps and Terra will put on their holiday best and pose for pictures. Hmmmm....what will the card look like this year? I HAVE NO IDEA!!!!!!!!!! :)
